| Subject: Allowing Traditional Format, Even as an Alternative Mon Apr 22, 2013 12:24 pm | |
| Hello, everyone. I'm just starting here. I'm wondering if anyone else wants some form of traditional format play? I know most people are against it. i only ask because i love to duel and this sounds like a great thing to be involved in, but the way the ban list works isn't exactly always fair. I mean, I know I'll get jumped for saying this, but why shouldn't anyone use pot of greed? I get it's a free draw, but hear me out. There are decks and strategies out there that just can't be managed because there isn't available draw and support cards for them yet. It isn't fair to me that decks made from scratch, rather than store bought decks (ie: gravekeepers, six samaris, blackwings), are nearly impossible to manage against the tournament winners. Shouldn't the game have creativity to it? I'm honestly tired of facing tournament decks because after someone plays their first card then you know exactly what their deck is and what they are going to do. Almost card for card. But don't misunderstand, I don't hate sets. I saw you had darkworld decks banned and i kind of understand since they are such a pain and so easy to master, but it got me thinking. Why ban the whole deck when you could just make it so you can only have one copy of grapha? that alone would make the deck not much better than your average top tier deck. It would slow them down to at least a swarm/fusion elemental hero speed, which is manageable. and maybe limit or ban dark smog... But back to the point. If we focused in on the exact cards that break the game and limit those then we don't have to ban any (with the exception of riageki, harpies feather duster and crush card, which was just made unfair. a one turn use maybe). and besides, I know why you ban cards. They are unfair to other decks. well, letting all decks have some of those common use cards like pot of greed, graceful charity, and maybe cyber jar will let slow decks keep on par with the pre-made tournament winning decks that everyone and their mother has. I mean, imagine, if we brought back something like fiber jar then we could bring back exodia. because no deck is hurt by fiber jar (maybe not the best example) but cards like him keep exodia at bay. And I know it would get annoying if everyone used fiber jar and cyber jar but it's no different than everyone with a synchro deck always running stardust just because he is insane. I know my post is way too long, but my point is, I think we could re-imagine how the game works by reviewing the ban list and make a game with the freedom that lets people still use their gravekeepers and six Samaria decks, that are clearly just built like starter decks, but with effects that make them better than any human made strategy, while also letting creativity back in to the game so that someone can make an unconventional deck that can still actually manage to draw enough to have cards to play. Again, I understand cards being limited, like judgement dragon should be down to 1 and so should lightpulsar and grapha, but even as much as I may dislike some of them, I hate to see them gone for good. Without judgement the lightsworns aren't even that scary. And who can't stop one monster? most people i duel fill 1/3 of their deck with atuo kill cards, which I don't find too fun, but it's the truth. So, my point after all this rambling is, I think if we just rethought what cards should be limited, rather than banned (again, except for duster, crush, and riageki) then we could start seeing some awesome new decks and great deck mixtures too! SO, if anyone else feels at all like I do, please tell me and even if not, please give criticisms. I guess I just feel like, in all my time of playing both tournament and traditional, with the exception of one turn exodia decks, I haven't ever seen anything unbeatable... so to take them away from every deck for the sake of nerfing a few decks that were op from the start doesn't seem worth it. Plus, this originating from the show, where everyone played traditional format, it seems like it would be more fun to allow some of the fan favorites that nobody has seen in years because of the banli[/b]st.[/b] | |

| I like this idea. I don't typically play tournament legal decks, but I do follow the rules on limited cards (i.e. only one of this particular card are allowed). It annoys me that a lot of pre-made decks come with their own draw cards, but my own "original" or "creative" decks can't use any draw cards because they're banned by tournament rules. I would like traditional format play, because I'm totally okay with limiting cards, but the ban list annoys me. I'm glad I'm not the only one! | |
